Matrix Orbital LCDs and VFDs
Dominion Electronics offer a wide range of LCD's for different applications.
A Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) is a passive device, as it does not actually produce any light, it simply alters the light travelling through it. LCDs utilise two sheets of polarising material with a liquid crystal solution between them. An electric current passed through the liquid causes the crystals to align so that light cannot pass through them. Almost all LCDs have a strong light source built in behind a glass panel which ensures that the areas of light and dark on the screen have good contrast.
