In order to support customers of COm Express Type 2 modules with a newer processor generation, Lippert developed the Toucan-QM57 it uses the Core i7 processor to bring fresh processing power to COM Express applications. The module is contructed to support operation in rough environments.
With up to 8GB DDR3 ECC RAM and a Very powerful processor, the Toucan-QM57 lends itself easily to rugged systems requiring lots of memory, for instance mobile image processing. Memory expansion is done through XR-DIMM modules, which are especially designed to withstand shock and vibration. The module supports the COM Express standard and includes these interfaces :
- Dual channel LVDS, 2 DisplayPorts
- Gigabit LAN
- 8 USB 2.0 host ports
- 4 SATA ports with RAID support
- 1 PATA interface
- Intel HD audio
- PCI Express bus: 6 x1 lanes, 1 x 16 lane
- PCI bus
- LPC, SPI, SMB buses
The hardware capcbitilities are complemented with LEMT functionality. LEMT, short for Lippert Enhanced Management Technology, is implemented in all current Lippert products and offers features for condition monitoring. Developers can embed LEMT in their applications using the open interfaces. As a special feature the Toucan-QM57 can measure its own supply current and thus the power consumption of the PCU under differnt operating conidtions can be determined in real time.
